I have no clue what comment Toph is on, but I feel like a question meme.

I play Toph, Zel, Melisan and Leedin here; Lafiel and the yet-to-be-introduced Empathy Core over on enrichment_center. And, well, if you know me from anywhere else (Sabra, Entanglement, etc.), ask about any of those folks too!

For the new, basically: ask me a question. I'll ask you one back! And so on, and so on. (You may need to remind me of alts and such.)

Hilariously Hiroto is about the age of Lafiel's younger brother, so there is some protectiveness. On the other hand, he's not that much younger than she was when she completed her military training*, and her final bit of training was on the ship that was the first casualty of the war. So she doesn't want to shelter him too much because she figures that she can't, and that it would be crueler to him to try.

As I was saying above, Zeta and developing some responsibility and leadership skills is what keeps Lafiel from being sufficiently non-compliant that she gets written off as 'pain in the ass' and GLaDOS decides to find a new test subject. She's not really all that well-behaved as a prisoner, but she's developed enough grasp of strategy and command to sit down and wait til she has the information she needs.

Reverse for Hiroto?

* Lafiel was a prodigy, no one expected a war, and the Abh military is the only place in Abh space to really learn how to operate ships, so she was allowed into the academy as soon as she passed the entrance exams.

Hiroto really likes Lafiel! Honestly, he adores both her and Yuri, and he clicked with both right away. Lafiel seems a little too serious and not very prone to displays of affections or used to things like, empathy to a complete stranger. But she's a good person and rather than emotionless, she gives a vibe of, like... I can't find the english word but you know, she's very serious business, very "i want to make sure things will go well and they will because i will make them".

She's definitely someone who he can work well with, and actually! She reminds him of one of his teammates in Genesis (the fake!aliens team he was the captain of), Ulvida/Reina, who was actually his second-in-command. He's also very curious about her culture and everything! But yes, overall, he likes her a lot, trust her, and thinks she's very capable.

My brain is a bit too dead to go on his feelings on Zeta and EC in general right now, but for Zeta it's dere and for EC it's ":(!!!".

If you hadn't apped Lafiel, is there someone else you would have apped?

I mentioned to Ed upthread, Lafiel was mostly picked by who I knew I could come up with an app for on short notice and would be interesting in setting: for team games, I like someone who thinks a little different.

Otherwise, I mentioned Miles Vorkosigan to Ed. Or possibly Georgia Mason now that I've finished her canon -- after the events of Blackout, she probably would have been put on Beta, though, if I pick up on Excel's theme for Beta.
