Mostly, she's treating it as a Prisoner of War situation, though having Zeta around helps her temper a lot of her natural inclinations which mostly would get her killed (probably repeatedly) for failure to cooperate.
She's kind of put herself into 'leader' of Zeta (though Yuri or Shepard might take it from her if either wants it), which means she has an obligation to her 'crew' that means she has to minimally cooperate to keep everyone fed and alive.
She's pretty intent on escaping, but her first step is to gather information -- both on people and on the center. Finding out that Shepard knows something about computers made her pretty happy; Lafiel knows she can navigate well, but she's not a computer person. Well, no more than what she needs for her job.
